How to Choose a Cosmetic Surgeon

The art of proper blepharoplasty has no fixed “formula”. Every patient is different, every case is different, and in keeping with this idea, treatment approaches for patients should also be personalized.

Upper Eyelid Cosmetic Surgery – Blepharoplasty

Upper Eyelid Surgery Patient Before and After

Cosmetic eyelid surgery, known as blepharoplasty, is a surgical procedure that repairs eyelid problems and improves their appearance. Excess eyelid skin, muscle, and fatty tissue that tend to accumulate and sag around the eye are removed from the eyelid, by means of an incision done on the natural creases above the eyelids. These eyelid cosmetic surgery scars are usually not very noticeable after healing, even without makeup.

Lower Eyelid Cosmetic Surgery – Blepharoplasty

Cosmetic surgery of the lower lids is often performed by making an incision on the inside part of the eyelid. So that no visible external scar is created when fatty tissue is removed. This is called transconjunctival blepharoplasty.

An incision may also be made just below the base of the lashes if excessive skin or muscle folds are found below the eye. As this incision heals, the fine scar should also become barely visible.

Laser Skin Resurfacing

Laser Skin Resurfacing Before and After

With this type of cosmetic treatment of the face, layers of skin are removed restoring a softer, smoother, more youthful appearing skin. The Erbium laser is our preferred laser for skin resurfacing. This laser produces less heat and is considerably gentler on the skin than other resurfacing lasers.

Treatment with the Erbium laser stimulates the production of collagen which results in a tightening and smoothing of the skin. The laser treatment is performed in our comfortable, state-of-the-art office operating suite under local anesthesia.

Botox Treatment

Most people don’t find the Botox® treatment to be uncomfortable. A very small amount of Botox® is injected directly into specific muscles and topical anesthetic creams are applied to numb the skin before the injection. The muscles, as a result, become relaxed, thus reducing the appearance of frown lines, crows’ feet, and other unsightly wrinkles – effects are usually seen within 24-72 hours.

Blepharoplasty – Cosmetic Eyelift Surgery for the Individual

Blepharoplasty or cosmetic eye lift surgery caters to people, regardless of their gender, ethnicity or age.

Asian Eyelid Surgery

Dr. Prasad uses his expertise in eyelid surgery to provide Asian patients with naturally appearing eyelid folds. He understands the importance of not committing frequent mistakes of many other facial plastic surgeons of “Americanizing” or “Europeanizing” the Asian eyelid.

Dr. Prasad’s specialized approach for people of color also addresses two main problems requiring special consideration:

(1) avoiding the formation of keloids (raised unattractive scars) when their skin heals; as well as

(2) reducing the tendency to have long-lasting pigmentation changes when they heal.

Male Eyelid Surgery
